A Typical Week In The Life Of A Blogger

All bloggers have different schedules and journeys, here's mine:

7:30 AM: WAKE UP

Monday's are never my favorite days, but we all have to rise and shine at some point, right? I typically wake up around 7:30 to give me enough time to eat some brekki, do some work, and get ready for class.

9-11 AM: CLASS

Monday's I have macroeconomics and math in the morning. Both are an hour long. I'm usually itching to get out of class on Monday's because, well, it's Monday.

11 AM: LUNCH

Right after class I'm off to eat lunch. I typically watch Netflix while I eat to stay sane throughout the week and give my mind some relaxation between school and shoots and whatnot. I'm usually grabbing something on the go while I walk back to my apartment from class even though I should be cooking. If you guys have any good low-budget meals I should try let me know!

12:40 PM: INTERNSHIP

This semester I'm doing a marketing internship for a wedding event planning company called Kate & Company. I love getting to look at the wedding pictures and dreaming about what mine might possibly look like someday! The wedding industry is not something I ever pictured myself working in, but I love getting to see what the company does to help make people's special day much more relaxed and unforgettable.

6PM: DINNER

My internship usually goes until 5 pm, although sometimes I get off early if I finish all of my work, which is kind of nice since I have to get home to homework. I eat dinner around 6. Sometimes my amazing roommate cooks for me, sometimes I get take out on the way home, and sometimes I'll just put something quick and easy together. My parents get so concerned about how often I eat out, but with how fast-paced my life is it's just become a force of habit due to the convenience.

7-MIDNIGHT: STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!   .... AND BLOG

After dinner I'm off to the living room for the next 5 hours to study and work on content creation. Monday's I'm usually preparing for my Tuesday classes so I have homework to get done. If I finish that or need a quick study break, I'll either browse Pinterest for inspiration, work on my schedule for the week and book shoots, or draft a quick blog post. And that's about it for my Monday!

7:30 AM WAKE UP

I wake up at the same time every day even though I don't have class until 9:30 on Tuesday's. It's usually during this time between waking up and class that I check up on emails, analytics from my social media and blog, and other miscellaneous things that need to get done before I head into the day.

9:30 AM: CLASS

I have sociology at 9:30 AM. It's an interesting class, but I don't know if it's my fave.

11 AM: LUNCH, HOMEWORK, SHOOT

After class I usually get some lunch and watch Netflix for a bit before diving into homework and working on some more blog stuff. I honestly have such a short attention span that it takes me so long to do homework because I blog in between assignments. I have multiple windows open for my 5+ active emails. Sometimes I have photoshoot images to edit, or I'm on deadline for sponsorships, so I have to get working on those posts. It's a busy lunch period that's for sure. During this time, Kenji and I will have time to shoot around 4 outfits for my blog and instagram.

2:15 PM: CLASS

After lunch I head to marketing class. That's always a fun class for me since I'm interested in marketing. The only thing that bothers me (and if I talk to you about my opinions on education you probably know this) is that I feel like school is so outdated. Our classes don't talk about social media as much as it should and the impact of it. They don't discuss media influencers and it's super frustrating to me! Social and digital influencing is a form of marketing these days and I feel like professors fail to realize that since the world changes so drastically at insane speeds. But oh well...

3:30 PM: EDITING, BLOGGING, PULLING INSPO

After class I have a short break. I usually edit blog images, or images of shoots of other people that I've done. Since I am also a photographer and I'm pretty busy, I try to pull of an editing turnaround time of 1-2 days. This means I edit anywhere from 50-600 images a day (if I have three shoots that day). Yikes. If I have nothing to edit, I'm working on blog posts or pulling inspiration for future ones.

5:30 PM: CHAPTER

I'm the VP of Professional Activities for my school's professional business fraternity which means I have to reach out to professionals to come speak to our chapter and offer us some tips and advice for surviving in the real business world after college. We have to go over our regular agenda during chapter and sometimes I have to bring in the speaker.

7 PM: DINNER

Time to eat some grub! And of course watch a little Netflix :)

8-MIDNIGHT: HOMEWORK AND BLOGGING

Same old, same old.

7:30 AM: WAKEUP

You know the drill. Emails. Messages. Analytics. Homework. Breakfast.

9-11 AM: CLASS

Back to macroecon and math we go!

11 AM: LUNCH

Pretty self-explanatory.

NOON - 5 PM: SHOOTS AND MEETINGS

During this time block I shoot 1-2 times, both myself and with other people and brands as a photographer. Sometimes I have meetings, and these meetings vary each week. I could be meeting with my manager, or a company for a job proposal, etc. A couple of weeks ago I had a lash appointment, a meeting, 2 shoots, and I had to pull wardrobe for a weekend shoot during this time block. So it all depends on the week!

5:45 PM: YOGA

This is a new one for me....but I'm totally into it!

7-MIDNIGHT: DINNER/HOMEWORK/PLANNING

After dinner I work on homework and some more planning. I do work virtually for a couple of companies, one of which I am the influencer manager of. This means I am contacting bloggers and planning product shipments for them, working on their blogging schedule for our website, and posting to instagram and organizing images.

7:30 AM: WAKE UP

9:30 AM: CLASS

NOON: LUNCH AND NAILS

Tuesdays or Thursdays are usually the days I go to get my nails done. It sounds kind of high maintenance, but it's actually quite the opposite. I've painted my nails so many times without getting them professionally done, but they always chip after just a couple of days! With blogging and modeling so often, you have to get detail shots which often times require hand closeups for jewelry and other various poses to make the pictures look better. This is why I've kind of grown accustomed to getting acrylic gel nails. They don't chip, they last for WEEKS, and I don't have to waste time painting my nails.

2:15 PM: CLASS

3:30 PM: BLOGGING AND HOMEWORK

I have a night class on Thursdays, so before I head to class I usually work on some homework and blogging.

6:30-9 PM: CLASS

Guys. Accounting stinks (no offense accounting majors--all the power to ya)! It's totally not my favorite class but I guess I gotta take it for my biz degree right?? It's kind of hard to pay attention in that class when it's late and I get hungry and tired, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

9:30 PM: DINNER

10:30-MIDNIGHT: HOMEWORK AND BLOGGING

By this point in the day I'm exhausted and my brain is completely fried. But I still have homework and I still have content to create for you guys!

7:30 AM: WAKE UP

9-11 AM: CLASS

11 AM: LUNCH

NOON-6 PM: SHOOTS

Shoots on these days totally range. I'm always modeling for blog posts and instagram posts on Fridays typically. However, I have paid shoots as a photographer on Fridays as well usually. Sometimes I have one shoot, and sometimes I have to squeeze in 3. Sometimes I'm working out whether it's running, yoga, or just a quick core circuit in between events.

7 PM-MIDNIGHT: EVENTS, BLOGGING

Sometimes I'll have a blogging event to attend on Friday nights. Else I'm editing images from the shoots that day and uploading them and working on content creation and email correspondence.

My weekends are always different and that's what I love about them. I average 5 shoots per weekend. Some are me modeling, and some are as a photographer. I'm also doing other things like grocery shopping, working out, trying to have a social life, events, and going to meetings & interviews, etc.

I'm so excited for the summer when I don't have to worry about classes and I can put all of my energy into my work and passions. I actually just landed a job as a stylist at Free People, so that should be certainly interesting in trying to schedule that into my weekly life! I feel like I'm pretty spread thin, but then again I feel like I never take on anything that I don't feel 100% confident of being capable of handling. Determination and persistence will take you far.

Thanks for checking out a snapshot of my week! If you have any blog post requests feel free to drop a recommendation!

xoxo
