Gratitude: Diversity

Different never means wrong. In fact, it often times means right.

Without diversity, where would we be?

I know for a fact I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’d probably still be half way around the world.

We all have a story to tell, but many of these stories get shoved aside as our personal prejudices stand in the way of simply listening and comprehending them. There is a story behind every person. There’s a reason why they are, and where they are, and why they are where they are. Our number one goal should revolve around respect. Respect them for who they are. Respect for what they believe in and and what they value.

Unique stories make the world go ’round. Your story? It’s unique, different, and not worthy of comparison because it is yours and yours only.

And so friends, I am grateful.

I am grateful to live in a place where there isn’t just cultural diversity, but diverse thoughts, theories, opinions and beliefs. A place where there isn’t a right or wrong answer–but rather multiple options that have different outcomes. Exposure to this atmosphere has left my mind expanded even if it’s just by a small margin. My heart is left a little fuller. And my hopes a little higher–that one day the whole world will accept diversity without a shadow of a doubt.
